To say I miss you
puts me in an awkward category.
Here I share the ranks with war vets
and romantics that lift their pens
from paper to inhale fresh air only
when off elsewhere—

I’ve been here all along.
The collective conscience we paired
on mattress didn’t fade, it blended
into the colors I blotch walking
to the market full of your flavors.

The way you share my rainy
and sunny days resonates with me
both indoors and out. Your ghost
is inescapable here, there, and inside
the vault of my borderless mind I call home
when not lapsing to meet you.

LOCATION: Florianopolis, Brazil – Walking around Trinidade neighborhood the long way to the market.
